At Mini Hippo Land, placing our puppies in the right homes is just as important to us as breeding healthy, well-structured dogs. Our puppies are raised inside our home and are part of our daily life.
At Mini Hippo Land, placing our puppies in the right homes is just as important to us as breeding healthy, well-structured dogs. Our puppies are raised inside our home and are part of our daily life, which means we do not operate on a first-come, first-served or impulse-based sales model.
Instead, we use an application process to ensure each puppy is placed in a prepared, committed home where they will thrive long-term.
What the Application Process Is — and What It Is Not
Submitting an application is not a purchase contract and does not guarantee approval. The application simply allows us to learn more about you, your lifestyle, and what you are looking for in a puppy. Applications are reviewed thoughtfully, with approval based on overall fit rather than speed.
Why We Use an Application Process
Over time, we've learned that rushed or impulse decisions often lead to mismatched expectations. Our application process helps prevent puppies being purchased without knowing the home, decisions made under pressure, or misunderstandings about temperament, training, and long-term commitment.
Every puppy has a unique personality, and the application helps us recommend puppies based on real-life compatibility, not just appearance.
Transparency and Communication
If, based on the application, we feel an applicant may be a good fit, we will move forward with a video call. This gives us the opportunity to connect, answer questions, and ensure expectations are aligned before any decisions are made.
We are always transparent about breed traits, health considerations, training expectations, and timeline, and we encourage open communication throughout the process. Our goal is clarity, not pressure.
Why Not Every Application Is Approved
Not every application moves forward, and that is intentional. Declining an application does not mean there is anything wrong with the applicant — only that we do not feel one of our puppies is the right fit at that time.
We would rather say no early than place a puppy in a situation that may not be ideal long-term.
A Process Built on Care
Mini Hippo Land is not a volume-based breeding program. We prioritize health, temperament, and lifelong placement over convenience or speed. Our application process exists to protect our puppies and support the families who welcome them.
Choosing a puppy is a meaningful decision, and we believe it deserves time, communication, and care. If you feel aligned with our approach, we look forward to learning more about you.
